LLANELLI’S Asda store is the latest business to support Carmarthenshire County Council’s Christmas Toybox Appeal.
For one week, from December 1, their shoppers will be urged to help make Christmas special for hundreds of families, by contributing to the store’s green token Community Life scheme.
They will be asked to use the green tokens given out at the checkouts and pop it in to the box with the name Carmarthenshire County Council’s Christmas Toybox Appeal. The more tokens collected the more money will be donated.
Last year thousands of brand new toys were donated to underprivileged families across Carmarthenshire as part of the council’s Toybox Appeal.
Asda’s Community Life Champion Simon Evans said: “We are keen to support an appeal which helps to make Christmas a bit more special for underprivileged families within our local community.
“We’d like to thank our customers for their fantastic support and encourage them to continue their generosity.”
People are asked to donate new toys for children and young people aged from birth to 16, for boys and girls. They must be new for health and safety reasons, and the recommended cost is from £5 upwards.
Carmarthenshire’s Deputy Leader and Anti-Poverty Champion, Cllr Pam Palmer said: “Even though household budgets are under pressure, people are still keen to help those less fortunate, and for that we are very grateful.”
