Dyfed Powys Police will be working with partner agencies over the coming weeks across the county’s main towns in an effort to keep the night-time economy running safely and smoothly.
With Christmas parties about to get into full swing, revellers are expected to hit the pubs and clubs across Carmarthenshire. And officers will also be out and about to keep the peace and deal with any issues.
“We’ll be sending out extra resources over the coming weeks with extra patrols around our town centres,” said Inspector James Davies. “In some locations we’ll also have safety buses. These will be staffed by police officers and special constables and will not only act as a visible police presence but also offer a refuge for people if they are feeling threatened or need advice.
“We’ll be conducting visits to licensed premises, and we’ll also be dropping in on accident and emergency at West Wales General Hospital in Carmarthen and carrying out patrols at Prince Phillip Hospital.
“Extra resourcing is going into our CCTV monitoring as well, so we can be sure of catching any criminals in the act. And we’ll be joined by partners and specialists, including drugs workers and in Carmarthen street pastors.
“We want everyone to have a safe Christmas as well as a merry one, and we expect these measures to help achieve that.”
