Danny Graham returned to haunt his former club as his first goal, since leaving the Liberty, helped Hull hold Swansea to a 1-1 draw.
Graham’s last goal came for Swansea against Chelsea in last season’s League Cup semi-final, but it took him only nine minutes to put Hull City in front. The striker tucked home at the far post when connecting with Ahmed Elmohamady’s cross.
It was a very lacklustre performance from the Swans but they did manage to equalise fifteen minutes into the second half when Chico Flores scored from close range, after a low cross from Jonjo Shelvey.
After their promising win against Newcastle last week, Swansea started brightly as Michu teed up Nathan Dyer but the winger put a curling shot well wide of the post.
Just before the ten minute mark Hull hit Swansea with a sucker punch. A poor pass from Ashley Williams was intercepted by Elmohamady, who held off Pablo Hernandez to feed Graham for the opening goal. After eleven months without a goal the former Swansea man refused to celebrate against the club he scored twenty-one goals in just under two seasons.
It took Swansea another twenty minutes to produce any kind of attacking threat as Ben Davies raced onto Michu’s back-heel but couldn’t keep his shot down from twenty yards out.
It was a pretty uneventful start to the second period but it was Hull who threatened first as Tom Huddlestone shot high over the bar, after another superb delivery from Elmohamady.
However, with an hour gone Swansea were level. Shelvey’s short corner was returned to him by Pozuelo and a driven ball was tucked in by Chico Flores. Replays showed the ball looked to have gone in off the centre-back’s arm.
After getting their equaliser, Swansea suddenly found themselves under pressure as Hull pressed to move ahead once more. David Meyler had the ball in the net but was denied by an offside flag.
And minutes later Gerhard Tremmel had to push away a screaming shot from Yannick Sagbo.
The Swans had one last effort to seal the game, as Michu was put through by Routledge but was denied by Allan McGregor as Hull held on for a point.
