Swansea City travel to face Norwich City after securing their place in the Europa League knockout stages in midweek. Despite falling to a 1-0 defeat to Swiss side St Gallen Michael Laudrup’s men qualified behind Valencia in the group.
Chico Flores is suspended for Sunday’s game, but the good news for Swansea is right-back Angel Rangel maybe past fit for his return to action after two weeks out with a calf injury.
Norwich can be described as Swansea’s bogey side, the Swans have failed to beat the Canaries in the three years that both clubs have been back in the top flight. Three defeats and one draw is the record that hangs over Swansea.
Last season’s fixtures between the two teams served up two scintillating matches. Unfortunately for Swansea it makes bad reading, Norwich triumphed 4-3 at the Liberty and they shared the points in a 2-2 at Carrow Road.
The visiting Swans have won only two of their last eleven games in all competitions, including successive defeats in the Europa League.
One big plus is the return of Michu and top-scorer Wilfried Bony. Both have suffered recent injuries but both returned in preceding matches against Hull and St Gallen.
Michael Laudrup will hope their return can boost the Swans’ poor scoring record away from home. Only six goals have been scored away from the Liberty, even though Swansea boast a better record on the road than at home. With three wins on their travels and only two at home, only the four draws at the Liberty shows the Swans with more points on their home record.
