HOUSEHOLDS across the county are being encouraged to take measures to protect their homes against winter weather.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Property Services team typically deals with around a thousand cold weather-related incidents each winter, most of which can be avoided with some simple preparations to protect homes and buildings.
Their advice applies to tenants and homeowners, and includes simple measures such as bleeding radiators to ensure central heating systems are working at their best, and checking for loose roof tiles.
Cllr Colin Evans, Executive Board Member for Technical Services, said: “We are yet to see the worst of this winter’s weather, and whilst we hope it will remain mild, we’d like to help people stay warm and safe in their homes, as well as being prepared in case of any emergencies.”

Homeowners can use the council’s approved list of Registered Traders for peace of mind when employing a tradesman to carry out work in their home.
