The history books don’t make good reading for Swansea City when they look up Everton. Since their first meeting back in 1930, Everton have not been beaten by the team from South Wales. The Swans have only managed 5 draws and 12 defeats in all meetings between the sides.
This fixture was a major blot on Swansea’s copybook last season, with David Moyes in charge the blue half of Merseyside went home with an emphatic 3-0 win. However, Swansea did manage a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park back in January.
It has been a very up and down season for Swansea but sit nicely in 10th place, but have only two wins from their last 12 games in all competitions, away at Fulham and a 3-0 over Hull at the Liberty Stadium.
After the injury to Nathan Dyer, at Norwich, Swansea are set to be without goalkeeper Michel Vorm who has undergone knee surgery. Having made his comeback from injury in the draw with Hull, Michu is doubtful with a niggling ankle problem while Angel Rangel is suspended.
On a better note, defender Chico Flores and Leon Britton are set to make their comebacks.
The game will give the Swansea fans a chance to be reunited with former boss Roberto Martinez, who guided Swans into the Championship, winning League 1 and close to the play-offs a season later.
Since leaving Swansea in 2010, the Spaniard has failed to beat Swansea in their four Premier League matches, with Swansea winning 3 and drawing 1. The sole victory he has over his former employees is a win in the last 16 of the League Cup in 2010.
