Tottenham completed a league double over Swansea for the second consecutive season, condemning Swansea to their third consecutive defeat and pushing them closer to the bottom three.

After Wilfried Bony had struck the bar early on for Swansea, Tottenham went in front ten minutes before the break when Emmanuel Adebayor headed in. A Chico Flores own-goal handed Spurs a 2-0 lead before Adebayor scored again. Bony’s late volley was scant consolation for a struggling Swansea side.

The first thirty minutes belonged to the hosts as Jonjo Shelvey and Wilfried Bony should have put the Swans in front. Firstly Shelvey skewed a long effort wide and forced Lloris to tip away a stinging shot.

Secondly, Bony muscled Michael Dawson away before unleashing a whistling effort that cannoned back off the crossbar, with Lloris beaten all ends up.

Against the run of play the visitors took the lead as Christian Eriksen’s lovely cross was headed in by Adebayor from close range.

The goal turned the tide and Tottenham could have found themselves three up at the break. Eriksen again at the centre of the action, finding Walker who shot high when well-placed and then Adebayor saw Tremmel produce a brilliant save to deny the Togo international.

Swansea lost Jonjo Shelvey through injury early in the second half and on fifty-three minutes lost a second goal.

Kyle Walker’s driven cross was tapped into his own net by Chico Flores.

Despite Bony testing Lloris it looked like Tottenham had complete control of the game and should have added to their advantage on seventy minutes. One pass beat the Swansea back line and MoussaDembele but shot wide when through one-on-one.

But only three minutes later it was all over as Adebayor popped up again to convert Danny Rose’s cross to make it three-nil.

With seventy-eight minutes gone Swansea pulled a goal back as Wilfried Bony volleyed in Roland Lamah’s cross, but the Swans never looked like putting up a decent fight.

Former Swansea loan signing Gylfi Sigurdsson nearly added to the woe but he shot straight into Tremmel’s gloves as Spurs saw out the final minutes.

Swansea sequence of games without a win stretches to eight matches and sees them fifteenth, only three points outside the bottom three.
