COUNTY marketing and tourism manager Huw Parsons has cherry like cheeks and a Scarlet fevered brow scrumming about his hectic daily workload.

It does not help that the former Gloucester Schools player (and whisper it, Leicester Tiger U19 U21 and development player) has to work in partnership promoting Llanelli Scarlets especially when the Cherries and Scarlets clash as they do tomorrow (Fri Jan 24)

Huw has been especially active in the last week ensuring that all his Cherry friends get all the information they need nice and early in a digestible manner as they head for Llanelli.

Mr Parsons said part of a new tourist promotion to reach visiting supporters to Parc y Scarlets and assist them get information on where to park, where to stay, where to get a drink and food.

“I know this will provide an incentive to those that were not thinking of coming down, thinking it too far or too much bother and making it a more hassle free experience for those already coming.

“We are asking for those ‘refreshment’ establishments in the area that offer an experience to visiting supporters to contact county tourism officers Louise Rozhon or Rhys Anthony via email of marketing@carmarthenshire.gov.uk. so that we can properly promote them to future visiting supporters to Parc-y Scarlets.”

Internationally renowned Llanelli caricaturist Roger Bowles is producing a cartoon friendly map of the area and we are work with the various supporters and rugby online blogs as well as using the formidable contact book from the Scarlets.

Mr Parsons said it wouldn’t stop at the Scarlets because there was also the vast numbers of racegoers to Ffos Las and motor sports enthusiasts tripping to Pembrey Circuit.

“This is not just about telling people visiting area our prestigious attractions what is on offer but also possibly keeping them here a little longer, and more importantly, ensuring they want to return.”

Just who Huw is supporting at any time might be revealed by his choice of name for his family home “Kingsholm” – ouch, that’s Gloucester’s home ground.
