PEOPLE who are Deaf and hard of hearing are being encouraged to take advantage of the services Carmarthenshire County Council provides to aid them with everyday living.
As well as a range of equipment for use around the home, a British Sign Language interpretation service is also available to support residents during any appointments they have with council officers.
More recently, a range of text and video-based services have been developed, including BSL videos on the council website.
The council can also help put people in touch with Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deafblind clubs in the area.
Cllr Jane Tremlett, Executive Board Member for Health and Social Care, said: “We are always looking for ways to develop our services so that they are accessible for all, and we will continue to work closely with members of the community who are Deaf to ensure they get the best possible service.”
People who are Deaf and hard of hearing can contact the council in a number of ways, including Text Direct. Any telephone number within the council can be accessed by a text phone by putting 18001 before the number.
People can also text, using 0789 2345678, and can register to receive text updates by texting the words Sign Up.
