It’s been a mixed time for the Wildlife Watchers, the bad weather meant we had to cancel a walk around Swiss Valley reservoir, though we did manage to get some nice pics when we carried out our risk assessment.
Then Trixie had no joy with Carms CC over permission to carry out a project at Dafen Pond. She says:
“I wanted to apply for vouchers from Keep Wales Tidy/Wild weekend to plant up an area to attract pollinators.”
“After sending many emails since 22nd January I still didn’t receive a reply from the relevant department at Carmarthenshire County Council until 24 days after I sent the first one! Sadly, it was 2 hours 50 minutes after the deadline had passed!”
“Thanks to all those that tried to help including Dan from Keep Wales Tidy and Cllr Tegwen Devichand who also could not get any response. I am so saddened that it has proved to be so difficult to try and do something good for the community.”
“The next plan is already being hatched! Watch this space … Trixie x
We’ve also been busy promoting the project and attended Communities First’s ‘Have a go day’ where we were busy showing off our new equipment.
This week, Jo had a great walk around Carmel Nature Reserve. She said:
“It was very, very muddy and sadly, lots of really old trees have been felled by the high winds.”
!I think we’ll have to wait for it to dry out before we go there. It’s one of my favourite walks, a little bit challenging but well worth it for the stunning views.”
