On Monday March 24th Plaid Cymru Youth’s latest branch, Plaid Cymru Youth Sir Gar, will be holding an informal evening with Leanne Wood AM, open to anyone under the age of 30.
The event, which will take place at 5pm in ‘Y Glyndwr’, Queen Street, Carmarthen, is a perfect chance to meet up with other young people in Carmarthenshire and to discuss the matters that are important to us, the young people of our county. This is also a great chance to have a bit of fun with other Plaid Cymru supporters and our special guest, the leader of the Party of Wales, Leanne Wood AM.
Leanne Wood AM said:
“Plaid Cymru is very fortunate to have a vibrant youth movement and I’m pleased that it is going from strength to strength and attracting new interest.
“It’s vital that young people in Carmarthenshire and across the country mobilise and make their voices heard, especially in the current political climate. Big decisions affecting young people are being made now that will have a lasting impact. Plaid Cymru wants to inspire young people to be engaged so we can address issues such as youth unemployment, education and skills.
“I want young people to be a part of our party’s quest to build a new Wales.”
Glenn Page, National Chair of Plaid Cymru Youth added:
“Plaid Cymru Youth is the National youth and student movement of Plaid Cymru. We have active local branches across Wales and we provide a space for young, like-minded people to socialise and discuss the issues that we face”
“Young people are among the most under-represented group in politics, this has to change. Youth unemployment is at nearly 25% in Wales and long-term youth unemployment has quadrupled since 2011. I grew up in Carmarthen and I know first-hand how difficult it can be to find meaningful employment.
“Plaid Cymru is an ambitious party, our message is a positive one, we can and we must build a better Wales for our young people. I’m delighted to be coming home to share that message.”
