CARMARTHENSHIRE County Council trading standards and licensing officers are playing an active role in tackling violent and alcohol-related violent crime.

Council licensing officers regularly visit licensed premises with the police as part of plans to tackle alcohol related crime in and around licensed premises and will conduct taxi licensing checks and local operations with police assistance. They continue to promote and publicise the Cab Safe Scheme.

Trading Standards officers provide advice to traders of age related products, run test purchasing exercises in relation to them and monitor specific premises to ascertain evidence of underage sales. During the last test purchasing exercise 13 per cent sold to under age youngsters. Officers will also provide training for licensed premises and police officers regarding fake IDs.
