A GROUP of people from Llanelli have learned emergency first aid, and could now make the difference between life and death.
Supported by Carmarthenshire Communities First, the group took part in the first aid course at Felinfoel Education Centre.
The one day free course covered key life saving skills, and gave them the confidence that could one day possibly save a life in an emergency. It also covered all the familiar first aid situations such as dealing with unconsciousness, burns, bleeding, choking, broken bones, diabetes and head injuries.
Communities First Family Learning Worker Rhian Richards said: “I am so glad that people found the course useful and now feel they have gained the confidence to approach an emergency situation.”
Launched in 2001, Communities First is a community focused programme that provides opportunities for people living in areas deemed to be disadvantaged.
Executive Board Member for Regeneration and Leisure, Cllr Meryl Gravell, said: “It is important that people know how to perform first aid, which could save lives. It’s fantastic to see that local people in our communities are learning such essential life skills with the support of the Communities First teams.”
