Big Brother winner Sam Evans takes a break from the limelight to work up a sweat at his local leisure centre gym.

Sam, who was crowned winner of Big Brother 2013, enjoys keeping fit at the Llanelli centre three times a week. The single 23-year-old, who was born with 70 to 80 per cent hearing loss, believes being active and working out helps you to stay healthy, live longer and, in his own words, ‘keep in shape for the girls!’

Bubbly Sam, who is due to play in an all star charity match in June, said: “I love coming to the gym, it has great equipment and everyone is so friendly. I try to do an hour or so on different apparatus three times a week and it really has produced positive results for me.

“Everyone should include some form of exercise in their daily routine to keep them fit and healthy. Not only are you likely to live longer but also the results are visible which gives you the feel good factor.”

Since scooping the £100,000 jackpot the former housemate from Llanelli has been keeping busy property developing and playing for the Wales deaf football team. The talented footballer also acts as a mentor for local charity Carmarthenshire Youth and Children’s Association (CYCA) and models part time.

The former Maes yr Yrfa pupil entered the famous house last year with the hope of being an inspiration to others. Although the former pupil doesn’t get mobbed when he leaves the house now, he’s still gets asked for autographs and pictures with girls.

Sam jokingly says: “I have a poster on my wardrobe door of Hercules and looking at it inspires me to go down to the gym!

“On a more serious note, being hard of hearing has given me so many opportunities in life like playing for the Wales deaf football team, and appearing on Big Brother and Deal or No Deal.

“It was tough for me to adapt to wearing hearing aids at first, but you learn to just get on with it.”
