Following our publication yesterday of Cllr Sian Caiach’s call for Carms County Council’s Leader Kevin Madge to resign, we asked him for a statement on Cllr Caiach’s open letter.

On the Scarlets Land Deal, he said:

β€œThe process agreed by the Executive Board was followed. The matter was dealt with under delegated powers as approved and an independent valuer was engaged.β€œ

“I personally had no further involvement in the details of the transaction as the decision of Executive Board did not require me to be involved.”

He also added:

“The decision of the executive board – elected members – to sell the land also included the recommendation that an independent valuer be jointly appointed to determine the appropriate percentage split of the proceeds.”

“The District Valuation Service was utilised and through negotiations, which are normal in a commercial transaction of this nature, agreement was reached on the appropriate split.”
