Cllr Kevin Madge, Leader of Carmarthenshire County Council, said:
“Earlier today I was invited to meet with the Deputy Chief Constable of Dyfed Powys Police to receive a report on the investigations undertaken by Gloucestershire Constabulary, following the publication of two Public Interest Reports by the Wales Audit Office.
“At that meeting I was advised that the police had concluded that there was no evidence of any criminal conduct and that they would be taking no further action in the matter.
“I am pleased that the police have concluded that there is no evidence of any criminal wrongdoing. I was always one hundred percent sure that this would be the case, but it is in everyone’s interest that this has been looked at independently and that the public have now been given the reassurance that they need and deserve.
“I hope that everyone will now accept the outcome of this totally impartial investigation and that we can all return to focussing on what matters most –providing good quality services for the residents of Carmarthenshire.”
