Dear Readers
On Thursday 22nd May, Llanelli residents have an opportunity to vote in the European Election. This election is a choice of two futures for Wales; we must all ensure that the politics of progression and hope triumph over the politics of fear and hate.
Only Plaid Cymru will ensure Wales voice is heard in Europe. We are the only elected party which rejects austerity and the only party which can always be trusted to put the interests of our communities first; we do not take our orders from Westminster.
Plaid Cymru MEP, Jill Evans through her 15 years of experience in the EU Parliament has worked tirelessly in fighting Wales corner. Jill’s record speaks for itself; she was the only Welsh MEP who voted against the EU funding cuts as well as campaigning on issues such as clamping down on tax avoidance, voting to cap bankers’ bonuses and speaking up on the need to protect our environment. We are committed to building a more green, prosperous and outward-looking Wales.
The Party of Wales recognises that 1 in 10 jobs (150,000) here in Wales is dependent on us being in the EU. Our trade with Europe is worth £5 billion to our economy every year. We receive structural funds to improve our infrastructure and invest in community and regeneration projects.
There is a need for some EU reforms; Plaid Cymru believes Europe can work better for Wales. We want to scrap the Strasbourg Parliament bringing to an end the £100m a year move from Brussels to Strasbourg which is a scandalous waste of money.
Our priorities for you are to create a strong and sustainable economy, a better healthcare system and a higher standard of living. Only Plaid Cymru will stand up for Wales in Europe.
Sean Rees
Spokesperson
