Scarlets scrum half Gareth Davies has been awarded the top honours at the Scarlets End of Season Award Evening held at the Quinnell Lounge, Parc y Scarlets this evening, Saturday 17th May.

Parc y Scarlets hosted a very special end of season awards gala dinner to honour those who have played their part in the region’s success this season.

It has been a season to remember for Gareth Davies, the young scrum half from Newcastle Emlyn, having already been named Wales Online Player of the Season, WRPA Essentially Young Player of the Season and RaboDirect PRO12 top try scorer for 2013-14.

As well as scooping the top awards this season, Davies’ performances haven’t gone unnoticed with the Wales management earning himself a call-up to the ‘Possibles’ squad for the first trial match to be held in 14 years at the end of May.

Becoming a Scarlets centurion at the final game of the season against Cardiff Blues last week was a fitting end to what has been a successful season for Davies and this evening’s awards ceremony saw him honoured by his peers at the region as he was named Players’ Player of the Season.

A public vote, run in collaboration with Worthington’s and Llanelli Star, also saw the scrum half named Supporters’ Player of the Season.

The Try of the Season award went to outgoing Scarlets flanker Josh Turnbull for the length of the pitch effort at Parc y Scarlets against Connacht on Mother’s Day.

Scarlets’ 2013-14 centurions, Rob McCusker, Gareth Maule, Josh Turnbull and Gareth Davies, were presented with 100 caps whilst Jonathan Davies was presented with his British & Irish Lions cap.

Emotional farewells were made to outgoing players and coaching staff as another season draws to a close with Josh Turnbull and Jonathan Davies receiving standing ovations for their hard work and commitment to the region over the years.
