LLANELLI’S magnificent Millennium Coastal Park has been shortlisted as one of Wales most inspirational National Lottery projects.
Over the next few months it plays host to the Welsh Game Fair and National Eisteddfod which will be attended by hundreds of thousands of visitors.

To mark the 20th anniversary later in the year, the National Lottery are carrying out a poll on Facebook over the next week to find best National Lottery funded projects over the last two decades.
The Millennium Coastal Park stretches from Bynea in the east and encompasses the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust to Pembrey Country Park in the west. In between there Llanelli’s Discovery Centre, Llanelli promenade, Burry Port Woodlands and Burry Port and Pembrey Harbour in between which altogether consistently attract more than a million visitors a year.
The Millennium Coastal Park is among 12 Welsh projects competing for the title of National Treasure title from the Millennium Stadium to the Great Orme.
It’s a public vote taking place on Facebook, with another 12 projects in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland competing in their nations.
Leader of Carmarthenshire Council Cllr Kevin Madge said: “We want everyone who knows and loves the MCP to shout about our sensational coastal park and encourage supporters to vote it as their National Treasure.”
The Facebook poll is up and running May and operated to Tuesday 27 May.
County executive board member for regeneration and leisure Cllr Meryl Gravell said: ”Llanelli’s Millennium Coastal Park deserves to be crowned the nation’s best National Lottery project.”
