Carmarthenshire Communities celebrated in an event ahead of National Eisteddfod

ARE you already looking forward to the Eisteddfod coming to Carmarthenshire in August?

Want ideas on how to spruce up your community and hang out the bunting to give visitors to the county a warm Welsh welcome?

Why not come along to the Carmarthenshire National Eisteddfod Community Day at the National Botanic Gardens, Llanarthne, on Saturday, June 14 from 11am-3pm to find out how your community/town can come alive in the run-up and during the National Eisteddfod in Llanelli from August 1-9.

Executive Board Member responsible for the National Eisteddfod, Cllr Keith Davies, said: “The aim of the day is to celebrate and show our gratitude to the communities in the county for their hard work and commitment in raising money for the appeal locally and to extend support to all localities to continue with the good work in the months leading up to the Eisteddfod.”

During the day there will be workshops and ideas for decorating your area; activities for children; performances by local groups and individuals; a chance to book your decorating packages, which include bunting; Welsh language taster sessions as well as the chance to have a preview of the Carmarthenshire National Eisteddfod Crown and Chair ahead of the Festival and the Italian Trophy.

Find out more about a competition, to be launched at the event, called ‘Carmarthenshire’s Loveliest Locality’ which is a chance for local communities to enhance their local areas. The winners will be announced on the first weekend of the Eisteddfod.

Access to the Gardens will be free for the Community Day, but you must let us know if you are attending by Tuesday, June 10 by emailing WelshLanguage@carmarthenshire.gov.uk.
