Dyfed Powys Police patrolled the roads throughout the Force again this weekend reminding all road users to drive safely and of the importance of observing the speed limits.
There were no collisions that resulted in any injuries or fatalities.
- In Carmarthenshire officers conducted twelve breath tests, none were positive. There were nine offences of excess speed, three where no seat belts were being worn and one for no insurance.
- In Pembrokeshire one motorcyclist was reported for excess speed.
- In Brecon, Powys Roads Policing Officers stopped six cars for excess speed in a 30mph area and 35 persons were breathalysed in support of the drink drive campaign. In addition officers reported 19 motorcyclists for excess speed (82mph to 102mph), three for illegal registration plates, one for no MOT and one for no insurance.
- A Subaru Impreza was recorded for speeds of in excess of 100mph immediately and was reported for offences disclosed.
- Speed checks were conducted in Llanfihangel Nant Melan. Three car drivers were dealt with for excess speed and two motorcyclists were stopped for index plate offences. All motorists stopped for suspected offences were breathalysed and all were negative.
- Throughout the weekend five motorcycles were seized, one was identified as stolen, one with no rider present is believed to be stolen and three for no insurance/drivers licence offences. Two others were reported for no insurance.
“Our Officers are working hard to keep our roads safe,” said Chief Inspector Rose-Ann Lloyd. “Each weekend Officers patrol the roads and carry out enforcement activities as well as speaking to drivers/riders about the consequences of speeding. It is pleasing to see that there were no serious collisions this weekend. Driving safely is everyone’s responsibility, whether you are on a motorbike or in a car or van. The Police will take action against drivers who commit offences on our roads.”
