TEMPERATURES are rising and corks ready to pop to celebrate Cwmaman and Ammanford’s Big Day’s Out.
Bunting is being unfurled and fancy dress outfits planned as the communities buzz into life preparing for their great annual fun days.
Cwmaman’s Big Day Out, on June 28, will be bigger than ever. Schoolchildren from Ysgol y Bedol and the communities of Garnant and Glanaman will be playing a major part dressing up in costumes from around the world.
Leader of Carmarthenshire Cllr Kevin Madge said: “Children are very much taking a lead in this red letter day for Cwmaman this year. It will be a great fun day for all the family and we want to see everyone who is not actually taking part to turn out and have a ball.
“The school’s Comeneus project group along with pupils and villagers will be parading in a colourful spectacle through the villages to Parc y’r Aman where the carnival will be centred.”
In addition to the walking procession there will be arts, crafts, main arena, refreshments, community stands and exhibitors, adult and children fairground rides and a rugby tournament and tug of war organised by Amman united Rugby Club.
Other sporting attractions will be provided by Ysgol y Bedol, football; Mentor Bro Dinefwr-hockey and tennis and golf by Carmarthenshire council sports teams
Other attractions include a mobile climbing wall, walkabout S4C characters, jugglers, crazy golf and a crazy giant games arena.
Shockwave and Sizzler fairground rides have been booked by popular demand to complete a dizzy day of attractions that will keep all ages entertained.
The Big Day Out has been organised this year by Carmarthenshire and Cwmaman Community Councils, Ysgol y Bedol, Cwmaman Rugby Club, HA Holmes and Sons and Mentor Bro Dinefwr.
Ammanford’s Big Day Out is on July 12 at the recreation ground.
