CARMARTHENSHIREâS first Designated Public Place Order (DPPO) was introduced in March 2013.
This Order aims to help stop alcohol-related problems in public places in an area in Llanelli and gives the police the power to stop someone drinking in that area or to confiscate alcohol if the person is judged to be behaving or about to behave anti-socially.
The DPPO area is well policed and is being shown to be a good tool as part of the management of the night-time economy. It is being evaluated and this review will be considered by Carmarthenshire Community Safety Partnership.
Over the past year, there have been 280 alcohol confiscations, April 2013 â March 2014.
The CSP is raising awareness among local communities about the new power.
