THE Leader of Carmarthenshire County Council has met and congratulated the creator of the Crown for the National Eisteddfod in Llanelli.
Artist Angharad Pearce Jones, who lives in Garnant, designed and created the Crown, which will be presented for a sequence of 10 free verse poems of no more than 250 lines in total, titled ‘Tyfu’ (Grow).
This year’s Crown and the financial prize are donated by Carmarthenshire County Council.
Leader Cllr Kevin Madge said: I’m proud that the council is donating a magnificent Crown produced by a local artist as we welcome the National Eisteddfod back to Carmarthenshire.
“I would like to congratulate Angharad on producing such a beautiful piece of work.”
Council executive board member with responsibility for the National Eisteddfod Cllr Keith Davies said: “It is an honour for us as a council to present the National Eisteddfod Crown in Carmarthenshire.
“We have had the pleasure of working with Angharad Pearce Jones throughout the journey of commissioning, planning and producing the Crown, and we thank her for her enthusiasm and creativity.”
