Criminal Anti-social Behaviour Order (CrASBO) issued in Llanelli

Llanelli Police, supported by Carmarthenshire County Council secured a Criminal Anti-social Behaviour Order (CrASBO) against 29 year old female from Llanelli town.

The female appeared before Llanelli Magistrates Court on Thursday 26th June 2014 charged with Persistently making use of public communication network to cause annoyance / inconvenience or needless anxiety to another. Contrary to section 127 (2) and (3) of the communications Act 2003 and was found guilty.

The CrASBO application was made as the result of repeat phone calls being made by individual to the emergency services, with more than 70 calls being made between 1st January 2014 and 27th May 2014. When the emergency services would attend, the caller would often not be at the location originally stated or would say that she no longer needed help, only to call the emergency services a short time later requesting assistance again.

The CrASBO has the following condition – not to misuse the emergency 999 or 101 systems unless in circumstances where personal safety is at risk or save when in genuine need of emergency services.

“Both the police and the council have worked together to prepare the application and we are pleased that this was successful in court.” Said PC 793 PC Evans

“The CRASBO will stand for a period of five years with a power of arrest if it is breached. This application demonstrates good partnership working between the two organisations and they are hopeful that this will address the person’s behaviour, and improve the quality of life to neighbours and residents in the surrounding area.”

“Anyone suffering anti-social behaviour should not suffer in silence. I would urge anyone to report such behaviour to the police,” said PC 793 EVANS
