FELINFOEL is blooming lovely with 102 hanging baskets brightening the community.
County councillor Hugh Richards has built up a reputation as a green fingered wizard organising floral displays on lamp posts in streets and estates about the village for the last nine years.
But he is the first to admit it cannot be done without the support and help of the business community who have dug deep to keep the tradition going.
He said: “Lamp posts in nearly every street and around the estates have been decorated and are bringing big smiles to all.
CSA Recruitment have been the principal sponsor this year and their managing director Robert Rees said: “We delighted to be bringing some colour to the community and have been getting a lot of complements.”
Cllr Richards said watering and feeding through the hot weather was a challenge with 102 baskets to get round but they had some willing volunteers in Mark Howells and Alun Thomas to make sure they were kept at their best.
Mixed infants from Ysgol-y-Felin have undertaken a walking tour of the displays in their village and even organoised a painting competition and the suitably decorated Water Wheel feature.
