Duke Theseus is asked by Egeus to help with a family issue. Egeus wants Hermia to marry Demetrius, not Lysander. Demetrius loves Hermia; however Hermia is in love with Lysander, plus Helena still loves Demetrius – but Theseus is busy trying to prepare for his own wedding with Hippolyta.
Elsewhere, the King and Queen of the Fairies are fighting, allowing Robin Goodfellow to cause all kinds of mischief in the forest; while Peter Quince and his performing troupe (led by the ever enthusiastic Nick Bottom) are preparing themselves to perform at the Duke’s wedding…
