Keith Davies seeks answers from power company

Llanelli AM Keith Davies has written to Western Power Distribution, the company with responsibility for the power network in south Wales for it’s response to the second power cut to hit the town in less than a week.

The latest cut affected many thousands more than the first and caused businesses in the town centre to close on Tuesday lunchtime, during what was the busiest time of the day. Shoppers and office workers were forced out onto the streets and some stores closed having been plunged into darkness.

Keith Davies AM said:

“A significant number of properties were affected by the latest power outage – the second to affect the area in less than a week. I have written to Western Power Distribution for reassurances that the network in the Llanelli area is being properly maintained to minimise the risk of further blackouts.

“Whilst events of this nature are unusual, for most it is just an inconvenience. However, vulnerable customers and those listed on the priority services scheme will depend on a source of power for a number of reasons, so I want to know how many of those customers have been affected and how Western Power Distribution keeps them updated during such widespread disruptions.”
