A Llanelli Music Scene Night took place at the Kazbar Llanelli on Saturday  26th July with Mellow Method and Attercopus, here’s Bungl Oh’s views of the night…..

The opening band

Mellow Method – a very groove metal style to their performance, with the intensity and allure of bands like Pantera and Metallica, quite an aggressive style of music, but deep, understandable diction in the lyrics, for such a heavy band.

The band, as a 3 piece, may not have the jump around, stage presence that is expected with bands that perform this particular style, but while the guitarist both plays and sings at the same time, and at such a high level of accuracy, this disregards the need for an over enthusiastic stage presence.

The bassist played brilliantly, using the bass for an instrumental intro, similar to Megadeth – Peace Sells, as well as keeping in time with the rest of the band.

The drummer played every beat and fill to perfection, excellently merging the bass and the guitar to play an fantastic set.

The whole performance was fantastic, an amazing choice for an opening band, even if there were some technical difficulties, it did not diminish from their set one bit

Headline Band

Attercopus – a very crossover style, incorporating a mix of classic thrash metal with a mixture of groove metal, with a pinch of blues added into the riffs as well.

This 3 piece band played through the broken mic, and gave one of the best instrumental performances I’ve ever seen.

The guitarist, and usual vocalist, played amazingly, allowing him to concentrating on playing the guitar sections of their set.

The bassist was perfect on stage, every note giving the extra ‘oomph’, that you could both hear and feel in your gut, giving their overall sound extra depth of feeling.

The drummer was both fast and accurate with his playing, as opposed to many drummers who think fast is good, this drummer was combined both elements resulting in an intricate performance.

An incredible performance by the band, and am really looking forward to what the overall sound, of the incredible sounds we’ve heard, with the added ambience of the vocals, would make them an amazing band to see.

Both bands are worth looking out for, an amazing night with an amazing reaction from the crowd, it goes a step further in reassuring my feeling of how good both the bands are.

( I would like to thank the bands for playing great sets and demonstrating true professionalism through the technical hitches which were as a result of the venue’s sound system which experienced malfunctions. I feel it important that anyone reading this review is aware that the technical faults were nothing to do with the bands and the malfunctions were out of their control. Kudos to the bands for playing through the technical hitches!
