Did you know – the Government will pay you to heat your home?

The renewable heat incentive scheme is now available to every building in the UK!

The UK government has EU targets to achieve, in particular the reduction of our carbon footprint. One solution is to offer incentive payments to domestic and commercial property owners who replace their existing fossil fuel boiler with a renewable technology such as a heat pump, biomass boiler or solar thermal system. It really can be that simple but the qualification criteria does change depending on whether you will be eligible forthe domestic or commercial scheme.

To help you understand which scheme you can qualify for, ask yourself this simple question;

Do I pay commercial rates on my property?’

If the answer is yes, you can qualify for the commercial scheme,

If the answer is no, you can qualify for the domestic scheme.

Either way, if you replace your oil, mains gas or LPG boiler, you can qualify!

Although the two schemes differ slightly, essentially the outcome is the same; the government will pay you to provide the property with heating and hot water. As this is a basic requirement for the majority of buildings, it makes sense to understand more about the scheme, which is also applicable to new self-build properties.

If you are a home owner with a separate business premises, you can apply for both schemes.

If you combine a heat pump or biomass boiler with solar thermal, you can qualify for both technologies.

If you own multiple properties located together, claim for them all by utilising a renewable district heating system.
