Latest Dafen Pond Watch

It is lovely to see children and families enjoying at the pond. The area has lots of new growth now.

The pond birds are growing and quite relaxed sunbathing around the edges of the pond. Council workers have been seen cleaning up there and the rubbish lately has not been to bad! I would like to remind any fishermen to clean up after themselves and NOT to use any lead weights. A few weeks ago we had to call the RSPCA to an ill swan at Sandy Water park. Sadly it had to be euthanized as it had severe lead poisoning!

Although all is looking good at the pond, some reports are not! It has been reported that children/youths have been seen throwing bricks and stones at the ducklings and being verbally very abusive to anyone that tells them not to. Also, youths are still using the area for drinking gatherings at night. Last week a man was punched in the face apparently just for passing by them!!! The police are aware of problems there so please do report anything worrying that you see.
