Reviews of the The Texas Flood’s debut album have started to emerge for the rock press who have given it massive thumbs up.
The album ‘Young Dogs, Old Tricks’ was released by the band in June this year having been recorded at the ‘Mwnci‘studios in West Wales. The album includes 12 tracks which capture the high energy rock sound that The Texas Flood produce brilliantly live.
Reviewers have commented:
‘After reviewing their previous four track EP on Planetmosh back in November 2013, I thought then that they could well be something special to look out for. Now with this new album, I think I was well justified in what I said at the time about the musical style and the brilliant professional feel they all project. I still stand by my comment that they have a real honest feel for the vintage sound, in an absolutely staggering way!! Not only have they got the grip of a titan around the neck of this genre, they’ve taken it, throttled it, and then remoulded it to recreate their own unique sound!’
Dave Bradbury, Planetmosh, June 2014
‘The Texas Flood are going places, of that there is little doubt, it’s just how far they travel that’s up for debate. With ever-growing experience honed to maximum capabilities I can easily see this band packing out much larger venues than the ones they find themselves playing at the minute. Until then they’ll have to settle for being credited with one of the most promising debut albums of the year.’
Review by Gaz E, Uber Rock, July 2014
The Texas Flood are three 21 year olds (Tom Sawyer, Ben Govier and Tom Williams) who have been together for just over two years. They are widely regarded as one of South Wales’ most energetic and standout live young rock bands.
They are prolific live players and racked up over 90 gigs last year playing throughout Wales, England and Northern Ireland.
Speaking about the release band member Tom Williams said:
“We’ve been blown away by the response to the album. Sales are going really well and the reviews we’ve had so far are just fantastic. We just hope this will be a launch pad for us and lead us on to much bigger things.”
South Wales has a tradition of producing excellent rock bands and The Texas Flood appear to be the break through band from the region in 2014.
