A Carmarthenshire County Council Trading Standards officer has won a UK-wide award for commitment to her profession.
Viv Jones was chosen by the Food Standards Agency as the prize winner for the ‘The Institute Celebrates Success’ at the Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards Conference and Exhibition 2014 for Food.
This is a significant achievement and the second time she has been the highest scoring student in UK national exams.
Viv has worked for the council’s Trading Standards team for nine years.
Based at Llanelli’s Ty Elwyn, her day-to-day job sees her tackle everything from consumer issues, to rogue traders to food sampling.
She said: “I am extremely pleased to have received this award and am grateful for the support I have received from my colleagues and manager during my studies.”
Cllr Jim Jones, Executive Board Member for Public Protection, said: “We are very proud of Viv and all that she’s achieved. Viv is an integral part of our hard working and dedicated Trading Standards team who are committed to keeping the public safe.”
