Saturday 13th September 2014 marked one year to the date of the first ever Llanelli Music Scene gig at the Masons Arms. The night spelt a double celebration with pub regular Nick Neale who chose the bands that he wanted to celebrate the night with him.

Conflicts crashed the night open with their original blend of hard core/metal core tunes. I loved the dual contrast vocals, guitar riffs and the crashing china drum cymbal in their set which all blended together to produce the Conflicts brand of metal. Epic live set from these guys!! Sadly during their set Conflicts announced that it was their guitarist and ‘ clean’ vocalist Aled’s last gig with the band, but on a plus note the band will still continue with a new line up.

I was prepped up for Darksite’s set by singer Ronan who kindly gave me one of their t-shirts with the Title of the Song ‘Stand Your Ground’ emblazoned on the front from the forthcoming EP ‘Almost Home’. Some advance EP’s were also on sale on the night but these rapidly sold out and I was not able to get my hands on one of these. I took to the front of the stage at the start of Darksite’s set to get some photos of the band alongside a numerous other people also wearing their Darksite tshirts. Darksite immediately raised the roof off the pub with their own full on brand of energetic metal core matched with an equally as energetic stage presence. Yet again this band managed to create a manic mosh pit at the foot of the stage which isn’t something you see every week at the Masons. Highlights included Darksite performing their song Stand Your Ground and explaining the important message behind the song- ‘Don’t let anyone bully you or put you down’ . Another highlight included Darksite calling Conflicts onto the stage during their set and everyone singing Happy Birthday to Nick Neale. Not a dull moment to be had and in a word ‘ Awesome.’ !!
