Former Llanelli RFC back row Peter Evans, who captained the side against the touring All Blacks side of 1953, has passed away aged 86.
Llanelli born flanker Evans represented the Scarlets on 66 occasions from 1952 to 1956. He was club captain from 1953-1955 and was a driving force in the backrow.
As well as captaining Llanelli in November 1953 against New Zealand on their tour of the British Isles, France, Canada and California Evans won two Wales caps against England and France in 1951.
During his playing days he went by the nickname “Blondieâ and was part of the region’s Captain’s Parade celebration as the Scarlets paid tribute to 23 former leaders at the last ever game at Stradey Park on 24th October 2008.
The Scarlets wish to extend their deepest condolences to Peter’s family and friends at this sad time.
