Celebrated Welsh comedian Phil Evans is set to give the ‘inside track’ on what makes good comedy.
The man who puts the ‘cwtsh’ into comedy is bravely putting himself on the analyst’s couch for a one-man show with a difference.
The ‘difference’ is that it isn’t so much a one-man show as a two-man ‘fun fest’, with Phil being interrogated by fellow comedian Daniel Glyn.
The ‘Phil Evans Exposed’ show is a one-night-only event at Llanelli’s Best Western Diplomat Hotel on Saturday, November 1.
Phil explained: “This sort of question and answer interrogation is long overdue and something that I’ve has been putting off for quite a few years.
“Everybody’s been asking me to do a Q & A show. The truth is that I have now run out of excuses.”
TV personality, film reviewer and fellow comedian Gary Slaymaker is excited about the event.
“Phil Evans is true showbiz royalty – not only the Clown Prince of Comedy, but also the King of the Cwtsh.
“With many years experience, Phil isn’t so much a comic, but more like a force of nature. Warm, cheeky, and with an incredible gift for working an audience; the first time you see Phil Evans, you’ll never forget him. The second time you see him . . . run!”
Gary smiled and added: “As a comedian, no-one can touch Phil . . . which sounds a lot nicer than saying he’s the subject of a number of restraining orders at present!”
This show will be an opportunity for many loyal followers to see, hear and take part in the interrogation of Phil’s journey to date.
Phil Evans has been performing stand-up comedy for more years than he cares to declare.
He has worked with some of the biggest household names in the industry in one way or another, so he reckons that it’s about time he gave his legs a rest and sat down for a few hours of interrogation on the couch.
On the night, Phil will be chatting to broadcaster and fellow comic Daniel Glyn, who is a regular face on S4C and on the comedy circuit in the UK.
It will be a ‘no-holds-barred’ Q & A with Phil promising to reveal plenty of secrets.
Phil added: “Daniel Glyn may be a quick wit, but he is very slow at writing, so he will be asking members of the audience to provide him with questions to put me on the spot.
“Anyone who’s seen me at work will know that I have an answer for everything. The standard answer is, ‘Thanks, make mine a double!’
“It will be a night to be honest and frank and I’ll probably end up revealing everything – apart from my PIN number!
“Laughs are guaranteed and, along the way, you’ll probably learn a lot about a comedian’s life.”
