It’s FREE entry for the under-16s this half-term at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, where they are going bonkers over conkers.
The Great Carmarthenshire Conker Contest takes centre stage in the autumn half-term break (Oct 25-Nov2) and this old chestnut of an autumn event is all set to be a cracking competition, with the action kicking off on Saturday October 25 – but baking and pickling of conkers is strictly prohibited.
The conker contest is just one of many activities offered by the venue: there will also be pumpkin carving, a scavenger hunt, make-your-own autumn crowns and garlands plus conker model-making – and on Sunday (Oct 26) there will be a display by Meirion Owen and his world-famous Quack Pack.
The National Botanic Garden is open from 10am until 4.30pm. For more information, go to www.gardenofwales.org.uk email info@gardenofwales.org.uk or call 01558 667149.
