A regional Assembly Member representing Llanelli has urged businesses to be in the driving seat when it comes to the renewal of the town centre.

Party of Wales representatives Mid and West Assembly Member Simon Thomas and Vaughan Williams, Westminster candidate for Llanelli attended a networking event for Llanelli town centre businesses which provided the opportunity to go behind the scenes of Llanelly House.

The networking meeting was organised by Llanelli Business Improvement District (BID) steering group in partnership with the Ffwrnes & Llanelly House.

Following the meeting, Plaid Cymru Mid and West Assembly Member Simon Thomas said:

“It was productive to meet with businesses from the town centre. Clearly there were a lot of ideas for improvements. It is important that businesses take a lead on the recovery of the town centre. Their ideas need to be listened to and they have to be in the driving seat when it comes to any renewal plan.”

Llanelli Westminster candidate Vaughan Williams for the Party of Wales said:

“As Llanelli’s champion in Westminster it is important that I listen to entrepreneurs about their experiences of running businesses in our town centre. It was a constructive meeting with retailers and business owners on the way forward for Llanelli.”
