SHOPPERS and visitors parking up in Llanelli and Carmarthen can now interchange between car parks up to the expiry time and date shown on the ticket.
Carmarthenshire executive board member for transport services Cllr Colin Evans was advised that a similar policy had been introduced for Ammanford, Llandeilo, Llandovery and Newcastle Emlyn in December 2008.
Cllr Evans said: “Llanelli and Carmarthen are playing catch up with the other towns.
“This will be beneficial to shoppers and visitors because the car parks are spread out about the towns affording car users more flexibility and choice.
“As long as the tickets are in time on the day of purchase they can be used without penalty at any council own car parks. The tickets are not interchangeable between towns.”
Drivers must also respect long stay and short stay spaces. Tickets cannot be interchanged between the differing bays.
Llanelli has five car parks including the Murray Street Multi storey car park and Carmarthen has nine surface council owned car parks. The ticket exchange also applies to County Hall and Quay Street car parks which are also available for public use parking on Saturdays.
