We’re raising funds so that our trained volunteers can provide more walks and more educational opportunities for the public. Our dedicated volunteers provide many walks every month which help people explore their local surroundings. Our volunteers who are keen to promote Wales’ wonderfully diverse wildlife. We want to share our enthusiasm with people of all ages and encourage interest in all aspects of our natural world.
On the walks we log any environmental problems and pass on to the relevant authorities. The walks are also beneficial for people suffering from obesity and mental health problems and we’re trying to work with local community groups to do this.
Not only that but we also have Pond watch. There are many ponds around us, many are looked after and sadly a few are neglected and treated as dumping grounds. Where there is water there is wildlife regardless of the condition. Plants, fungi, animals and birds are some of the possible things that you may see. We would like to encourage you to keep an eye on a pond near you and to share with us and everyone else what you see. If you are watching a pond in the Carmarthenshire area and see anything that worries you e.g. rubbish then please inform us of that also so that we can inform the relevant people to try and get it sorted.
At present we have two ponds watched on a regular basis these are Dafen Pond & Delta Lakes. We’d like to increase by promoting ourselves to a wider audience.
