Llanelli Town AFC paid their annual Christmas visit to the Children’s Ward at Morriston Hospital last Sunday to visit the children on the ward and give them Christmas presents donated from the players, management and supporters of the Welsh League Third Division Club.
Reds players Bruno Forkuoh, Mark Nappieralla, Jamie Evans and Lee Bevan were present along with club secretary Neil Dymock and Reds photographer Keith Griffiths.
For Bruno Forkuoh it was his first visit after joining the club last summer and he said “it’s good to give something back to the community, especially at this time of year and I didn’t realise the football club did this sort of thing when I joined last summer. It’s good we have the opportunity to do good and it was a pleasure to see the faces of the children when we give them the presents.”
Mark Nappieralla also joined the Reds in the close season and was inspired by the visit. He said “It was a pleasure meeting Joseph, who I found out had a season ticket for Swansea City in the same stand as myself. He said he was looking forward to seeing me at The Liberty Stadium when he gets better.”
Jamie Evans visited last Christmas but was equally moved this year saying “I could visit every year, its moving meeting the children and I hope they all get better soon and enjoy Christmas.”
Llanelli captain Lee Bevan is used to giving presents out in his day job as a postman, but these were presents with a difference as children were recovering from illness. Lee said “It was good to chat with the children and see them in such good spirits despite what is a difficult time for themselves and their families. If we brought them a bit of happiness and took their minds away for a while, it has been good and I am looking forward to going back again next year. It was an emotional day, but its good to chat to the families as well and see them in such a positive light.”
Llanelli Town AFC would like to thank all the supporters who donated gifts as well as the players and management. As well as Janette Williams and Lisa Richards at Morriston Hospital for arranging and hosting the visit.
