Scrum half Nikola Matawalu, Man of the Match Josh Strauss and the weather were the stars of the show at Scotstoun Stadium last night, Friday, as Scarlets were felled 22-7 by Glasgow Warriors.
Scarlets went in with a two-point lead at half time, through a Liam Williams try and Rhys Priestland conversion, but faced an uphill struggle in the second half with the wind advantage favouring the homeside and failed to score points in the second half.
Speaking after the game Head Coach Wayne Pivac said: “It was a 20-point wind out there, as Glasgow proved scoring 17 points in the second half, to turn the first half around to a two-point lead wasn’t enough.
“Seven penalties went against us in the first half and we didn’t use the wind as frequently as we should have. We tried to play too much rugby in our own half.
“With Glasgow having a high percentage of the possession it meant that we spent to much time in our own half. We didn’t take advantage of the percentage that we did have, gave away too many penalties and Glasgow put too much pressure on us with the wind advantage.”
Scarlets now lie in eighth position in the Guinness PRO12 table as the competition takes a break for European and LV= Cup fixtures.
The region’s next Guinness PRO12 outing will be against Connacht at Parc y Scarlets on Sunday 15th February kick-off 12.45pm.
