With the family for Christmas

Well Christmas has vanished! I love Christmas – absolutely love it. Having two nephews and two nieces has given me the perfect ‘cover’ to behave even more like a child around Christmas – not that I ever needed ‘cover’.

He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.

It’s the same every year though, for all its greatness – the big build up and then… is that it? Is it over? Really? Not sure I should confess – but my greatest gift this year was my onesie – I love it (although keep it quiet!).

I was very busy during the Christmas period. We had our final canvassing session of 2014 on December the 20th – again a hugely positive response.

That night I drove by to see my mother. It was great to catch up! It’s been so hectic lately – family must and should always come first. I visited my grandparents, my Tadcu now being 93 and Mamgu being 85.

They are so independent and sharp too – very switched on. I cherish every visit to them, I really do – they are great people. Tadcu served in the Far East during World War Two – as soppy as it sounds he is my hero – he’s seen so much, things I can’t begin to comprehend.

From there it was off to Lancashire to see the in-laws. Was great to see my two nieces who are beautiful and very full of energy – very! They ran me ragged – they really did!

It was nice to recharge the batteries – away from school and to take a break from the politics too. As much as it would be amazing to create history in May – my focus is on my family – they come first. The period between Christmas and New Year (always a strange week) was relaxing. Once again visited my grandparents and nephews. The things kids say! My nephew, soon to be 6 claims that I look like Olaf from the film Frozen. Not sure who to worry about more – him or me, or indeed both?

New Year was a low key affair – as is the case generally it would seem.

Saturday the 3rd of January was the first campaign session of 2015 – and wow what a session it was – very, very positive indeed.

Happy New year to you all (regardless of political persuasion or indeed no persuasion at all) and very best wishes for 2015!
