A WOMAN has been fined £75 for failing to clean up after a dog – thanks to information received from a member of the public.
The fixed penalty notice was handed out because she did not pick up after the dog, which she claims did not belong to her.
The incident took place in Cambrian Street in Llanelli and was reported by a member of the public who provided a witness statement and the vehicle registration number which enabled Environmental Enforcement Officers to trace the woman.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s executive board member for Environmental and Public Protection, Cllr Jim Jones said: “Even if the dog you’re walking isn’t owned by you, it is still your responsibility to clean up after it.
“Dog faeces left anywhere can be a serious health risk.
“We are determined to stop the problem of dog fouling in Carmarthenshire and improve the environment for residents and visitors.
“However, if we are to stop this type of anti-social behaviour, we need the help of the public, as in this case, to identify those responsible.”
