Following the conclusion of a weekend of European Rugby Champions Cup round six action Scarlets will re-group ahead of the next phase of the Guinness PRO12 campaign.
With five victories, all at home, and two draw games from 13 rounds of PRO12 action the Scarlets currently lie in eighth position â five points off Connacht at the coveted sixth spot.
With a fortnight respite following European competition, and an opportunity for the regionâs next generation to compete against London Irish and Sale Sharks in the LV= Cup, Scarlets will be hoping to see some of their injured personnel make a full recovery in time for the return of Guinness PRO12 round 14 action.
Scarlets will take on sixth placed Connacht Rugby at Parc y Scarlets on Sunday 15th February in a must-win clash for the West Wales region. Having not lost at home in the PRO12 since Boxing Day 2013 the Scarlets have a lot riding on the Valentineâs Weekend clash.
Speaking after his sideâs defeat to Toulon in the European Rugby Champions Cup Scarlets Head Coach Wayne Pivac said; âOur whole focus is the top six positions in PRO12. Obviously from our point of view Connacht is now the focus. Weâll use the next few weeks to freshen the side up.â
Reigning champions Toulon brought a star-studded line-up to Parc y Scarlets and deserved their victory according to Kiwi coach Pivac; âWe spent too much time in the first half waiting and reacting to what they were doing. To restrict them to one try and seven points in the second half was pleasing. Certainly theyâre a great side and deserved their win.â
Tickets for Scarlets v Connacht, Sunday 15th February kick-off 12.45pm, are on sale now priced from ÂŁ9 for adults and ÂŁ3 for juniors.
