A successful manufacturing company is opening new premises at Capel Hendre creating dozens of additional quality jobs.

Victorian Sliders is investing millions of pounds in the move which is due to increased sales and further expansion.

The new premises is part of major expansion plans for the company to satisfy current orders and additional products and plans for the future.

The business, currently based in Hendy, is to move into the 100,000 sq ft former Dewhirst premises which Victorian Sliders purchased a few months ago.

It follows several years of a strong growth period for Victorian Sliders, which is now Europe’s biggest manufacturer of uPVC vertical sliding sash windows.

Since being founded in 2005, it has increased sales year on year by almost 50% and recorded a turnover of over £10 million last year.

In early 2010, the company acquired a new 50,000 sq ft premises to support the ever increasing customer orders, however has run out of space.

Staffing levels have increased by 25% over the past 18 months with the business now employing 80 in total.

The move to Capel Hendre is anticipated to create a further 30 jobs, and there are plans to continue to expand as Sales continue to improve.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Economic Development Team has been working closely with the company to support the plans.

Victorian Sliders Managing Director Brendan McCambridge said the business would open its doors at Capel Hendre in the first few weeks of 2015.

“These new premises will enable us to further expand our operations, invest in new machinery and increase the number of staff we employ, to support continued rising orders.

“We now plan to maintain our organic growth and are developing further strategies to make a more significant impact in to the European market.

“We appreciate the support we have been given by Carmarthenshire County Council’s business team which has helped make our move possible.”

The council’s executive board member for regeneration Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “This is fantastic news for the county and I’m delighted we have been able to secure this investment at Capel Hendre. The business is rapidly expanding and we will continue to support the company with their future growth plans.”
