THE Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Panel has backed the Commissioner’s proposal to reduce the tax precept for the next financial year.
Meeting on the 23rd January, the panel supported Christopher Salmon’s proposal to lower the policing precept by five per cent.
Vice Chair of the panel, Cllr Alun Lloyd Jones, agreed that it would help support residents during difficult financial times.
“We are pleased to support the Commissioner’s proposal, which will mean savings of around 20p per week for residents in an average Band D home,” he said.
The new policing precept for a band D property will be £200.07 (previously £210.60), contributing to the funding of £95.6million for Dyfed-Powys Police services for 2015-16.
The Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Panel comprises the four local authorities of Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Powys.
It is responsible for supporting, reviewing and scrutinising the Commissioner’s budgets, plans, decisions and actions.
