Ghost walk in the Garden

There is something spooky among the witch-hazels and hellebores at the National Botanic Garden of Wales this month.

Magician and storyteller Nick Brunger, who runs the award-winning Creepy Carmarthen Tour, is leading Ghost Walks around the Garden as part of the Star Party night on Friday 27th February.

“Let me guide you through the darker side of this iconic tourist attraction,” says Nick. “Although the current Garden offers a very contemporary visitor experience, in the past the site was the estate of Middleton Hall whose foundations can still be seen and whose presence in the landscape has led to some of today’s unnerving ghostly visitations.”

“Along the way we will hear the Legend of the Black Baby, pay a candlelit visit to the Apothecaries’ Hall and spend time in Principality House, the old servants’ quarters and now the most haunted part of the whole Garden.”

“Visitors will also get the chance to take part in some unique magical experiments which may help us connect with the spirits of the past.”

Among the stories that will be told are accounts of the supernatural experiences of the staff and visitors, how ancient ley-lines cross the Garden and what happened when TV ghost-hunter Derek Acorah paid a visit.

The walks take place at 6pm and 7.30pm and cost £10 per person. Places are limited and booking is in advance by calling 01558 667149.
