Scarlets backrow forward Aaron Shingler says that Sunday’s Guinness PRO12 clash against Connacht Rugby, at Parc y Scarlets, is massive for the region.

The international flanker, who won his first full Welsh cap against Scotland at the Millennium Stadium in the 2012 Six Nations Championships, understands the magnitude of his side’s clash against Connacht at the Parc on Sunday.

Speaking ahead of the region’s Sunday afternoon game Shingler said: “It’s massive for us. We really have to look to get three wins out of the next four games to be in a good position.

“Anything less than that and we’re going to be under real pressure come the end of the season which is obviously what we don’t want.

“We have to start well on the weekend and hopefully move on from there.”

With a number of Scarlets’ key players rested during the LV= Cup campaign Shingler says they’re raring to go for the eighth versus sixth clash at Parc y Scarlets on Sunday. “For me personally, it’s been nice to have a rest – in the last block of rugby every game was huge, big oppositions and crucial games and it’s nice to have a break.”

Scarlets fell to two defeats in the final stages of the European Rugby Champions Cup with Shingler last featuring in regional colours at the Parc against European heavyweights Toulon.

He went on to say: “Anything that’s gone on is history – it’s now all about looking forward to Connacht and games in the coming weeks.

“I think it’ll be a close game. Both teams are evenly matched. It’s going to be a real competitive game.

“I think it’s going to come down to one moment or one bit of brilliance. It’s about being accurate and delivering a game.”
