Llanelli AM Keith Davies supports Marie Curie’s 2015 Great Daffodil Appeal

Llanelli Assembly Member Keith Davies has this week backed Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal following the official launch of the fundraising appeal in Wales.

Keith Davies AM joined a selection of Marie Curie Nurses, fundraisers, volunteers and supporters, along with the charity’s Chief Executive Dr Jane Collins, to officially launch this year’s appeal at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay on Wednesday 11th February.

The Great Daffodil Appeal, Marie Curie’s flagship fundraising drive, encourages people to donate to the appeal and wear an iconic daffodil during February and March. Funds raised through the appeal are used to provide expert care and support to around 2,278 people living with a terminal illness, and their families, across Wales every year.

Last year’s Great Daffodil Appeal raised a record-breaking £8.26m through regional fundraising to support its important work in Wales, and everyone connected with the charity is hoping that this year’s appeal is even bigger and better.

Keith Davies AM said: “Marie Curie’s work supporting people affected by terminal illness in Llanelli and across west Wales is absolutely marvellous, and it gives me immense pride to wear my daffodil and support the charity’s 2015 Great Daffodil Appeal. I hope people across Wales will donate and wear a daffodil and help Marie Curie continue to make a real difference to people living with a terminal illness in Wales.”

Last year more than 1,000 volunteers in Wales helped support the Great Daffodil Appeal by collecting donations from members of the public. Together, they raised more than £308,000.
